In our vast experience of caring for people in their own homes, we know just how important it is that we find the right live-in care workers to provide support for you. Not only right in terms of their experience and qualifications but also the right personality. That’s why we have developed the most stringent internal quality controls and training programme to make sure you have the very best available.
Our care coordinator carefully matches clients and care workers on the following basis:
Once the important client /care worker matching criteria has been satisfied, the care worker will be contacted and assigned to the client. However, all our clients are asked their opinion once they have met the care worker.
All care workers attend a four day induction course, classroom and field-based, where they work with an experienced care worker or supervisor. All of our training meets the Skills for Care requirements that are set nationally. Typically induction covers moving and handling, food hygiene, basic first aid, emergency situations and confidentiality. All staff must successfully complete written and practical tests before working with clients.
It is important to us that our clients always receive the very best in care, and so all care workers participate in a continuing training and monitoring programme. Examples of further training subjects range from coping with Alzheimer’s to dealing with end of life care.
Many of our staff have been with us for a considerable period of time and are very experienced in care provision.
Carers are supervised on a regular basis and supervisors will regularly visit them while they are on assignment with you. If you have any concerns you can raise these privately with the supervisor. All staff also participate in an annual appraisal.
For the safety of our clients all staff are vetted by the Criminal Records Bureau at the enhanced level. We also ensure suitable references are received from previous employers before staff start work.
Carers normally stay on assignment for a minimum of two weeks at a time and then a different member of the team takes over. Live-in care provides a degree of continuity which no other method can. Normally the same two or three care workers are involved in a package. We obviously make sure that everyone is compatible and that our clients are completely happy with the care workers provided.
